Physiotherapy

Based on a thorough understanding of the body’s mechanics and function in health and disease, physiotherapy relieves pain and helps patients with various disorders improve movement and function. At Health in Motion, our physiotherapists provide treatment in four specialized areas of rehabilitation:

Neurological physiotherapy is used to treat people with neurological disorders such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, brain injury, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury or Parkinson’s disease. Health In Motion therapists are function oriented. Our goal is to teach patients to be independent in their daily routines. To achieve this goal, we teach family members and caregivers how to guide their loved ones to perform daily tasks independently.

Orthopedic physiotherapy is a field of rehabilitation that focuses on bone, muscle and related soft tissue. Our orthopedic physiotherapists treat people suffering from back and neck pain, fibromyalgia, arthritis, scoliosis, fractures, strains and sprains, sports injuries, and whiplash resulting from a motor vehicle accident. Orthopedic physiotherapy is also suitable for patients recovering from a hip or knee replacement, or back surgery. Health In Motion patients are cared for by a licensed physiotherapist, not an assistant. Treatments are one-on-one and at least 30 minutes in duration.

Pediatric rehabilitation focuses on the treatment of infants and children with special needs (cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and / or developmental delay), or with scoliosis, fractures, other injuries, or child’s arthritis. Therapists who specialize in this area must undergo a rigorous program of graduate and post-graduate studies that include child development and physiology. At Health In Motion our ultimate goal is to help your child regain the ability to carry out normal everyday activities. But we need your help to achieve this goal and ask that you attend the treatment sessions and family meetings so we can teach you how to continue the program at home and make it part of your loved one’s daily routine.

Post-surgical rehabilitation involves a broad spectrum of treatments aimed at restoring patients to their normal level of movements and function. Health In Motion therapists have extensive experience in this area of rehabilitation. Depending on the type of surgery, this course of treatment may involve learning how to breathe and move without pain or discomfort, or how to avoid complications after the operation.

Is physiotherapy right for you or your loved one?
